TANGO WORKSHOPS with Eva Lehrmann and Faidon Kyriakou
MOVING MINDFULLY IN TANGO – CONNECTION, BREATHING AND EMBRACE
We will focus on the essence of tango – the connection with our partner. We will explore the subtle ways of communication through our embrace, working with our breath, posture, and use of the floor. Rather than focusing on fixed structures, we will navigate a bodily language that allows us to communicate with ease and freedom while bringing greater awareness to our movements.
MOVING MINDFULLY IN TANGO – CONTACT AND IMPROVISATION
We will explore how to become more flexible in our approach to the dance by not only focusing on dance techniques but also incorporating mindfulness exercises. Building on the previous workshop and working on being present, we will expand our improvisation tools and spontaneity, discovering how to create a more fluid and connected dance experience for both roles.
DANCING:
- Since the tango workshops and milongas will take place in the ashram’s meditation hall, traditional tango shoes cannot be used. Instead, participants are invited to use alternative footwear to dance, such as Kung Fu/Tai Chi shoes, ballet slippers, barefoot dance pads, toe pads, dance socks, or even regular socks. Whatever footwear you choose, please make sure it has cotton or fabric soles. We also kindly ask that you reserve your chosen footwear for use only in the meditation hall.
- Participants should adhere to the ashram’s clothing guidelines. To maintain the ashram’s atmosphere, both men and women are requested to wear modest clothing – no low-cut or sleeveless blouses, singlets, short shorts, or short skirts. Women are also kindly asked to wear a bra.
- During the milongas, when not dancing, participants will be seated on pillows on the floor. However, chairs can be provided for those who need them.
- Changing roles is more than welcome.
CUISINE:
Our cuisine follows a yogic vegetarian diet, based on foods that are not only beneficial for the body but also calming for the mind. Three meals are provided daily, while tea and light snacks are available at different times during the day. The yogic diet excludes seafood/fish, eggs, onion, garlic, and mushrooms, as these foods are believed to be disturbing to the mind during meditation.
ADITIONAL NOTES:
- All workshops and activities are optional, allowing participants to customize their experience.
- If someone wishes to stay at the ashram longer or attend the event for fewer days, special arrangements can be made, and the price adjusted accordingly. Please contact us with your specific request.
- Each participant will be kindly asked to contribute one hour of their stay to community work, assisting with a daily ashram activity. We are happy to share that most participants find joy in lending a helping hand and find that it enhances community building!
- We reserve the right to make small adjustments to the program schedule while ensuring that the number and type of events remain unaffected.
- If a minimum number of participants is not reached by May 16th, all tickets will be fully refunded, and the event will be cancelled.
